Green Direct Performance kit aka:

The replacement of the Air Intake on the redbarchetta.

The barchetta's character is very well suited for modifications, be it optical, technical, acoustical, Rims, Exhausts, Turbo's, Bears, Ducks, Spoilers, in short more then we care to imagine.
On my barchetta I prefer to do acoustical modifications. My opinion is that the barchetta needs a bit more of a racy sound. So after one year I replaced the standard exhaust by a stainless steel one. And that was it for a few years although I did want to fit a different inlet air filter.
In the summer of 2000 I saw a replacement performance kit (on the Bernard Neidiger site), but this kit didn't sound nice and was too noisy to suit my taste. During the summer of 2001 I heard the Green direct performance kit that was fitted in the barchetta of a Dutch club member. This one did sound nice; a good inlet sound, but not too noisy. This was definitely my kit!
I placed an order and waited, the delivery time of the kit was supposed to be two weeks but it took 5 weeks before I received a relieving phone call, the performance kit had arrived. The price included fitting, an appointment was quickly made and I took my camera with me.
Since the manual was completely in French, a language no one seemed to understand, the fitting took a wee bit longer then we thought.
Fitting actually means carrying out the following work (look at the pictures below.)

The Green performance kit is a one size fits all kit; it fits every barchetta without exception. The barchetta nowadays has 3 different spec engines, the '95, '97 and the present type. Unlike the kit that's offered at the BN site with which you have to specify what type of engine you own.

After fitting you have to check for leaks and after that enjoy the lovely inlet sounds.
If you drive easily you don't notice much difference with the standard barchetta.
This changes as soon as you give more throttle, the engine sounds a bit "meaner" and when you seriously use the pedal (>4000revs) the party begins. The engine makes a nice "racy sound", a feast to your ears and in combination with the exhaust a sound is made which finally matches the barchetta looks.

And now for the price. The Green induction kit costs NLG 464,10 (210 Euro) including fitting. All in all quite a bit of money for a modification which doesn't affect performance, only the sound of the engine. However to me it's more then worth it.
